[Flexradio] DeFlexed

Hmmmm, something is not right. Are you running extended audio in the equalizer or compression above a value of 1. Check your levels at the leveler, ALC, mic, etc. and make sure you are not exceeding the limits. Look at the audio on the transmitted signal on the panadapter and see if it looks clean and well in the ballpark of limits. This will sometimes overdrive the amp and cause problems.

I am going to order a different firewire for my 5000A so I can run about 400 watts from an Ameritron ALS-600. Here is the web address for the firewire source, which appeared on the Flex Reflector for a while. Even the Flex techs said it was a good product but also suggested other sources to investigate such as grounding, proper antenna shielding, and general RF reduction methods in the shack. I am redesigning my station, pencil in hand, to go back to the basics so I don't forget something that I should remember from 30 years ago. I would agree with the "no one solution" approach. However, I have also learned the "weakest link in the chain" theory over the years, which is why I am getting another firewire. Still, there are dozens of things that can go wrong. I sure wish I'd gotten that Powerbook© with XP. I would have saved money over the long haul.

I removed one USB cable that I could get away with.

It helped, I can now use almost 100 watts before it kicks out
