If that's the case Dudley,

I worked the VK9 DXpedition on 40m and 80m with my Flex SDR1k and an amp and vertical. The VK9 was easily copyable through the QRM in CWU mode with the 250Hz filter and I worked them on the two bands on the same morning after only a couple of calls; CW. Didn't try SSB.... The next morning I listened on 160m on the Flex and was hearing him just fine but I had no 160m amp so I called him barefoot, 100w.... He came back to me a couple of times with a "?" K0??.... If I had the amp I would of snagged him on 160m on the Flex....

Well the story isn't done yet... The next morning I got on with my Collins KW-1 and 74A4 receiver, the only high power station I have for 160m. That morning I was hearing the VK9 Q5 on the Flex but to my surprise I was having trouble finding him on the 75A4..... Even with the 800Hz mechanical filter QRM and the filter ringing was making it hard to pull him out of the noise on 160m.... I went back and fourth between the Flex and the A4 to make sure he hadn't faded out but every time I listened for him on the Flex I could hear him loud and clear; it was amazing!!! So back to the A4 I went and finally I got him tuned in, gave him a call and got him!!!

Needless to say I'm on the lookout for a good 160m to 10m amp!!

The Flex is the finest receiver I have ever used and I have used a lot of receivers. I currently have over 50 high end vintage receivers that in the past have held up well against the newer rice boxes.... But not against the Flex.
