Hi all,
I'm a new flexer (to be.)
Been watching the Flexradio family develop from it's inception in QEX.
Today, an SDR1k purchased on EBay should arrive.
I'm a well experienced ham and computer jock. Most recent station setup
was a Kachina 505 controlled by the DXLab Suite. Used that setup for
about 3 years. Recently the Kachina went into an unrecoverable mode.
The straw which drove me to the SDR1K.
A couple of initial questions.
1. I noticed a comment in the "New sheriff" review to the effect that
SDR1Ks have an RFI problem. As my antenna is unavoidably fairly close to
the shack that makes me a bit nervous. Can anyone enlighten me regards
to known susceptibilities and cures? Point me to a paper on the website?
2. I've had PowerSDR v1.10.1 up and running in demo mode on a 3.1 Ghz
Processor, 1 Gig Memory, XP pro, Griffin Knob box for about a month.
Seems to work fine at about 15% utilization when running demo IQ
recordings with DXLabs. In prep for the upcoming arrival I decided to
install vCom and get communications going with DXLab.
Nope!
With the SDR1K attached to COM6 and DXLabs attached to COM7 and both
using either Kenwood/TS-2000 or both using SDR-1000 there's no
communication. (I used the "Third-Party Cat Installation.pdf) Right
now I'm assuming CAT communications is not possible when the hardware is
not attached. (CAT doesn't work either in Demo/None mode or in SDR-1000
mode.) Any advice?
BTW there was a recent change in DXL Commander's interface to the
SDR-1000. This change implements some of the new TS-2000 commands which
have crept into the FlexRadio interface. Other flexers on the DXLab
reflector assure me it works perfect with v1.10.x.
I'm sure looking forward to the arrival and being part of this group....
Thanks in advance for any help.
